Metallurgical industry belongs to high temperature industry. All sorts of melting needs high temperature. Due to temperature difference between inside the furnace and outside furnace, heat waste may occur. So insulation material is used to keep furnace energy efficient. As the requirement for energy efficient increase, traditional heavy refractory material can not meet modern requirement. Today we are going to introduce the application of high temperature ceramic fiber board in metallurgical industry furnace.
Pit furnace is used to heat steel ingot in rough rolling mill. Before being rolled, steel ingot is heated to the required temperature for rough rolling in pit furnace. The steel ingot is heated to 1200-1250℃. Inside the furnace the temperature can reach 1350-1400℃.
Traditional pit furnace is built with refractory bricks. The central of pit furnace wall is built with silica bricks, the bottom of furnace and lower furnace wall is built with high alumina bricks and sometimes magnesia bricks are used to build furnace bottom. The movable furnace cover is built with shaped clay bricks. As the unshaped refractory material is being widely used,more and more pit furnace is built with ceramic fiber board instead of refractory bricks and achieved good insulation effect.
High temperature ceramic fiber board can be used in permanent insulation layer of the cold side of pit furnace wall, seal groove of movable furnace cover( take the place of the original sand sealed groove ), and the insulation of heat exchange chamber wall.
Pusher-type billet heating furnace.
Steel ingot after being heated by pit furnace, and rolled into slabs of different shape. Pusher-type billet heating furnace is used to heat the steel slab to the temperature that suitable for hot rolling.
High temperature ceramic fiber board can be used as wall lining material of preheating section, heating section, soaking section. And can also be used as lining of flue system and hot air pipe wrapping material.
Rotary heating furnace
Rotary heating furnace belongs to contentious heating furnace, it is consisted of annular hearth and rotary bottom. Rotary heating furnace is mainly used to heat round steel slab and other shaped steel slab.
The inside wall of rotary heating furnace will expand when being heated, this may make the brickwork of furnace fall, so reinforcement measure is required. Due to the heat stability of high temperature ceramic fiber board, high temperature ceramic fiber modules are widely used to build furnace wall.
Car type furnace
Car type furnace is used to heat steel slab before forging or preheat metal pieces.
Traditional heavy refractory wall lining lead to higher furnace heat loss and heat storage loss. The heat efficiency of furnace is low. Brick built car type furnace, its heat efficiency is about 15%. If use high temperature ceramic fiber board as furnace wall lining material, the heat efficiency of furnace can reach 40%. This can remarkably reduce furnace building cost and can make the furnace lighter and more energy efficient.
