Detailed construction steps of insulation rock wool blanket for tunnel kiln

Feb. 12, 2020

Last issue we introduced laying of ceramic fiber blanket on top of tunnel kiln. This issue we will introduce application of insulation rock wool blanket on tunnel kiln waste heat pipe.

     3. Insulation of waste heat pipe.

The heat for drying the wet body in the drying chamber is the waste heat sent from the tunnel kiln by the waste heat pipe. Insufficient heat in the drying chamber will inevitably affect the thermal system of the drying chamber, which will lengthen the drying time of the drying chamber. Therefore, the insulation of waste heat pipes is also very important and cannot be ignored. The insulation steps of waste heat pipes are as follows:

     a. The insulation rock wool blanket should be cut into pieces as per the specifications of the waste heat pipe and trimmed uniformly. The vertical and horizontal seams should be left on the top of the pipe when laying. The overlap is about 500mm, and the horizontal overlap must be tightly connected.

     b. Use galvanized iron wire to bundle brown paper outside the insulation rock wool blanket at an interval of 200mm.

     c. Spiral wound on the outer surface of brown paper with dense-grain glass cloth, overlapping length of 40mm, and bundling with galvanized iron wire every 500mm.

Attention: There should be gaps between insulation rock wool blanket on both sides of the the expansion joints of the pipes. This is to ensure that pipes can extend and retract.
