Last issue, we introduced the effect of temperature on the properties of refractory ceramic fibre products. In this issue, we continue to introduce the effects of environment on the properties of refractory ceramic fibre products.
2. Effect of application environment on the properties of refractory ceramic fibre products.
Under reducing atmosphere, SiO2 in the fiber easily reacts with CO and H2 as follows:
SiO2+CO→SiO↑+CO2
SiO2+H2→SiO ↑+H2O
3. Effect of impurities on the properties of refractory ceramic fibre
Some impurities present in the refractory ceramic fibre products, such as Fe2O3, Na2O, K2O, etc., react with other components in the refractory ceramic fibre to form a eutectic at a lower temperature, and the presence of the eutectic destroys the fiber structure. The viscosity inside the fiber is reduced, the crystallization deactivation energy required to overcome the ion cluster rearrangement is reduced, the crystallization temperature is lowered, and the growth of the crystal grains is accelerated due to the presence of the eutectic, and the powdering of fiber is promoted.
