Characteristics of refractory fiber 1

Sep. 25, 2018

Refractory fiber is a media material having complex micro structure and random porous. The accumulation of fibers is randomly disordered, and this irregular geometry structure leads to a diversity of physical properties.

Density of refractory fibers

Refractory fibers produced by glass melting method. Their density is the same with true density. Refractory fiber with classification temperature 1260 ° C, its density is 2.5 to 2.6 g/cm 3. Refractory fiber with classification temperature 1400 ° C, its density is 2.8 g/cm3. The density of polycrystalline fibers with high alumina content is not the same with true density due to the presence of micro pores between the microcrystals inside the polycrystalline fibers.

This issue we mainly introduce density of refractory fiber. Hope this can bring help to furnace builders. Next issue we will continue to introduce diameter and length of refractory fiber. Please stay tuned.
